Welcome to Bordertown ARC tour
I have a copy of Welcome to Bordertown, begged off of the lovely folks at Random House when I visited this winter. I'm unwilling to part with it entirely because my name is on the cover for various sentimental reasons, but I also feel like the whole point of ARCs is to spread the love and the word about a book. So I've come up with something else instead.

If you'd like to borrow Welcome to Bordertown, and you're willing to commit to both reading it in about a week and to them talking about it somewhere online, leave a comment below. I'll mail you my copy, and then when you're done, you'll mail it back to me, and I'll send it on to the next person on the list. (ETA: And will keep doing so until the book itself goes on sale at the end of May, however many people that turns out to be, and at that point see whether it's still in good enough shape to keep sending around.)

What do you think? Anyone interested in an early read?

(Hey, Kirkus and Bookslut both liked it!)

I will--though not yet. If I could be four or five down the list, it would be perfect.
Janni Lee Simnerjanni on April 8th, 2011 11:18 pm (UTC)
Will do, assuming there's other interest!

Hey, if rachelmanija also wanted to read it to, you could share and then send it back ...

Excellent idea! If she volunteers, then put us together, and we can pass it between us.

I have you down right after Tracy Mertens, below, if you haven't acquired your own copy by then!
Sherwood Smithsartorias on April 10th, 2011 10:29 pm (UTC)
Due to the tax bite, no book buying for a while, so I doubt if I'll have a copy any time soon! This ought to work out well with my existing obligations.
Kip Manleykiplet on April 8th, 2011 11:25 pm (UTC)
For this I could make the time.
Janni Lee Simnerjanni on April 8th, 2011 11:49 pm (UTC)
Cool! Since sartorias doesn't want it right away, email me (janni at simner dot com) your address, and I'll send it out either this weekend or Monday!
Kip Manleykiplet on April 9th, 2011 12:08 am (UTC)
Email away! Squee! &c!

And right after kiplet should be after that, with mailing time, so ... email me an address, and you'll be right after!

Just came back, and you're next on the list--should go out tomorrow (hopefully) or Saturday.

Enjoy! :-)

I'm game for the outgoing postage if you're game for sending it back at the same cost--main thing would be how long the book winds up in transit, but I don't think it tends to be that much longer, does it?

I would...but it probably wouldn't arrive until May 24 anyway or something. I'll just read Faerie Winter (which arrived on the release date).
Janni Lee Simnerjanni on April 10th, 2011 10:23 pm (UTC)
If it's before the release day when you come up, want me to ask again?

Also: hope you enjoy Faerie Winter! (And very glad it arrived on time!)

Thank you, but no. I'm probably better off saving money on the postage. It'll just make me buy the HB as soon as it comes out instead of putting it in my Box of Interminable Holding.

I'm sure I will! I'm reading Huntress by M Lo right now, then I think it's Faerie Winter time. :D

BTW, if you're still taking blog topics, I'd love to read a whole bunch of people's essays on how they decided their spouse(s) was/were the one(s). I'm very curious about that right now, probably because I'm starting to think of settling down. Note this topic is not the same as meeting the other person, as that happens by chance, mediated by how much you put yourself out there. More like how you knew you wanted to actually live with them and how you worked out living with them even though they were another person and actually in YOUR SPACE. My experience of roommates is they make you feel what they feel instead of what you feel and eventually you're just hiding inside your room.

Read & critique Bordertown ARC
I would be happy to read and review Welcome to Bordertown.

Re: Read & critique Bordertown ARC
I have you down! Am guessing that sending it to you should take us about to the end of May. :-)

(If I'd thought of this just a few days sooner I'd have brought it with me to Changing Hands!)

That would be fantastic. I can knock out a book in a few hours, even if it's a long one (not to brag, sorry. I'm just really excited about this new book). I'm a B-town fanatic.

Re: Please!
Hi! Email me a name and address, and I'll put you on the list right after Tracy and sartorias! :-)

If there is still room before the release, yes.
Shadowalkerlistentotheikon on April 23rd, 2011 05:24 am (UTC)
I'd love a chance to read it in advance of release, although I will be buying a copy as soon as it is released. as for reading it in a week, if I can put it down after I start and before it's done I'll be disappointed.

I'd love to get a chance to read and review this book! I am on vacation this week, but I'm sure by the time the mail got it to me I'd be available if there's still room in the tour.

This is a great idea! I would love to read this ARC. Shockingly, I'm familiar with Newford but not Bordertown...yet. I would review the ARC on my blog (jenniferambrose.blogspot.com) and The Book Book.
