Several bits of good short story news recently. :-)

"Dragon Offerings" will appear in the March 2009 Tales of the Talisman. (Which remains the only magazine willing to pay in dinosaurs. (I don't know about you, but this is a serious consideration for me when choosing a market!)

"Alien Promises" has sold to Escape Pod. (This one first appeared in Bruce Coville's Book of Aliens. A story about what happens when you promise a friend--or an enemy--that you'll tell them first, should the aliens finally come and offer to take you away.)

"What Fire Is" has been accepted for the fourth Tales of Valdemar anthology. (This one's set entirely in Karse, during the time when heralds and their companions were distant demons to the north, and children were still burned for having magic.)

Folkroots
Earlier than I expected, today's mail brought copies of the February 2008 Realms of Fantasy, which contains a folkroots column I wrote about my travels in Strandir and Njála country.

I'm guessing it should be on newsstands (or in bookstores, anyway) sometime in early December. :-)

Home
Back from WFC. Good conversations and good company had (my main goal, when going to cons, is to hang around having fun talking with fellow readers and writers), and nearby family visited.

While at WFC, I also picked up a contributor's copy of Cabinet des Fées 2, which contains my story "Lost or Forgotten." And many other things that I'm looking forward to reading now.

Home now, catching up on email, and planning to be at our local TusCon this weekend.
