The air was full of ravens today

Krawking, soaring, arguing, perching, looking about.

As if they’d all just gotten the same wake up call for half-past winter.

Or, perhaps, were simply looking for other ravens with which to do raven-y things in order to create more ravens.

It is, as always, hard to say. And the ravens, of course, aren’t telling.

Caw, caw, caw.

I heard the crows today.

Yesterday there were several birds at different points trilling along, but not today. Perhaps the cloudy sky made them think "winter" and leave it to crows.

Heard a raven out at the City Forest, but I think just one. Crows, now, we have those by the thousands.

Seen outside the office window: two ravens hopping around the bare trees of a vacant lot. A few minutes later, one flew off, bearing a stick in its beak.
