Mid-afternoon music break

Spoken and sung by anyone else, this would probably be a little irritating. Spoken and sung by Ethel Merman, it’s rather nice. And makes me smile.

Growing up with the cast album of GYPSY, my brother used to refer to Ethel Merman as "that woman who shouts when she sings." Okay, not a coloratura soprano--but boy, what presence!

And Ethel Merman shouts so very well.

Sometimes, presence and heart make the difference.

She's like an object lesson in the difference heart can make in art/craft.

This made my day. I don't know why but I really like "Tomorrow" (Annie was one of the first musicals I've ever seen).

Also, I'm stuck at home with a cold and I was feeling sort of grumpy about it but it now occurred to me that I can sing it as much as I want without bothering anyone.
